Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Alter Domus is seeking a talented Senior Full Stack Engineer to build and maintain sophisticated web applications powering core business operations. You will take end-to-end ownership of the application stack—from frontend interfaces to backend services and database architecture—while integrating AI/ML capabilities and third-party services to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full stack web applications across frontend, backend, and database layers
• Build responsive, intuitive user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks
• Develop robust backend services and REST APIs to support business workflows
• Design and implement scalable relational and NoSQL database schemas
• Integrate complex third-party services and AI/ML-based document extraction tools into application workflows
• Deploy and manage applications on AWS, implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for scalable containerized deployments
• Implement authentication, authorization, and access control mechanisms
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, implement indexing strategies, and tune database performance
• Monitor system performance and implement logging and error-handling patterns for production systems

Requirements & Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience building full stack web applications including frontend, backend, and database layers
• Deep understanding of REST APIs and hands-on experience integrating complex third-party services
• Strong SQL expertise, including query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning
• Practical experience with React, Python, and PostgreSQL
• Experience working with AWS services in a production environment
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
• Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and access control mechanisms
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Skills & Nice to Have

• Familiarity with AI/ML-based document extraction tools and AI API integration
• Exposure to N8N or similar workflow automation platforms
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Experience with GraphQL APIs and message queues/event-driven architectures
• Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana and CloudWatch
